The New Year is right around the corner. Many people start the New Year off by trying to get healthier. There are small changes that you can make that will drastically improve your health.

Eat Fruit

Many people crave candy because of its sweet taste. Processed sugar and high fructose corn syrup, which are what make the candy sweet, are not good for you. If you are craving something sweet, then you should consider eating fruit. It has natural sugar, but it is high in fiber. The fiber causes your body to digest the sugar slowly.

Shop When You are Full

You should go shopping when you are full. Studies have shown that people who shop while they are full are less likely to buy unhealthy foods. People often buy on impulse when they are hungry.

Learn to Cook

One of the reasons that diets fail is because eliminating certain foods completely from your diet makes you want them more. Studies have shown that people who cook at home eat healthier. You can also save money by eating at home.

Drink Your COffee Black

There have been many studies done to confirm that coffee has a number of health benefits. In fact, you can drink up to five cups of coffee per day without it having a negative impact on your health. However, it is best to drink your coffee black. Adding cream, milk and sugar can add calories.

Use Avocado on Your Toast

Avocados are filled with healthy fats. They are considered super foods. Avocados are high in vitamin C, vitamin E, fiber, potassium and magnesium. That is why you can should put avocado on your bread instead of butter.

Use Whole Wheat Bread Instead of White Bread

Whole wheat bread has more fiber in it than white bread. This bread will fill you up more slowly and slow down digestion.

Drink More Water

Water can do a lot more than just keep you hydrated. It can help boost your energy. There has also been evidence to suggest that if you drink water before your meal.

Power Walking

You are probably aware of the fact that walking is good for your health. However, you can reap even more health benefits by walking at a faster pace. A study done in 2013 that involved 40,000 walkers showed that people who walked at a slower pace were more likely to die than those who walked at a quicker pace.

Park Further Away

Parking further away is a simple way that you can get more steps in your day. Walking helps strengthen your bones and burn calories. It can also decrease anxiety. Additionally, walking can keep your brain healthy. You can also take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Brush Your Teeth and Stand on One Leg at the Same Time

As silly as this sounds, it does have some benefit. It can help you improve your balance. This is especially important for older people because they are more likely to suffer a fall.

Wash Your Hands Regularly

This is one of the keys to preventing an infection. Washing your hands reduces the spread of bacteria. However, it is essential for you to wash your hands the right way. You will also need to wash your bed linen on a regular basis because it can be a breeding ground for bacteria.

Wear Sunscreen

You may not like the smell of sunscreen. However, wearing sunscreen is one of the best things that you can do in order to protect your skin. You will greatly reduce your risk of skin cancer if you wear sunscreen. You will also need to wear sunglasses. They protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays.

Moisturize Your Skin

Moisturizing your skin will prevent it from becoming dry and flaky. There are several different types of moisturizers. That is why it is important for you to carefully select the products that you use.

Meditate

Meditating for 30 minutes per day has a number of benefits. Studies have shown that meditating can lower your blood pressure and stress level. It can also improve your memory.

Establish a Sleep Schedule

You should stick to a consistent sleep schedule. This will make it easier for you to get the proper amount of rest.
