What Time Do Food Stamps (SNAP) Appear On Your EBT Card in 2026?

For millions of families across the United States, food stamps from the SNAP program help make it easier to pay for groceries each month. A common question is: What time do these benefits actually show up on your EBT card?

The SNAP program sends out benefits once every month, and the EBT card works just like a debit card. However, the exact date and time you get your benefits depends on the rules in your state.

When Do SNAP Benefits Arrive?

The date you get your food stamps is usually based on your case number, the last digits of your Social Security number, or sometimes the first letter of your last name. This helps each state spread out the payments across the month.

Most states add SNAP funds to your EBT card between midnight and 8:00 a.m. on your scheduled day. In some places, the money might even be available as soon as 11:59 p.m. the night before.

Usually, your money will be ready for you to use at the store when you wake up.

What If My Payment Date Is a Weekend or Holiday?

The good news is that weekends and holidays do not delay your benefits. The EBT system works every day, so you will still get your deposit if your payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday.

How Do Payment Dates Work In Each State?

Each state runs its own payment schedule. For example:

  • California: SNAP benefits are deposited from the 1st to the 10th of each month.
  • Texas and Florida: Payments happen from the 1st to the 28th, based on your case number.
  • New York and Illinois: These states use a mix of rules, such as the county you live in or your type of case.

Most states deposit the money in the early morning hours, even if the exact time isn’t always shared publicly.
